Trying a little bit of DIY

by Sofia Gatchalian on 5/16/2012

What's up guys? My summer is going to end in a few days because the official start of my classes is on May 24, Thursday! Good thing we had this thing called Lasallian Personal Effectiveness Program (LPEP) wherein we get to meet our schoolmates and blockmates!! The 2-day orientation was probably one of the most fun orientations I've been to. There were food, freebies, and friends! I met lots of cool people and the Lasallians were so welcoming! I am more than stoked to be a part of this community!

Moving on to the real point of this post.. I've been seeing ombre stuff everywhere! From hair to nails to clothing. Since I'm always bored at home, why not try a little DIY? I got a friend to join me in this project as I didn't want to waste the bleach and the dye!

I'll update you in a couple of days!!

Also, do you guys mind if the font of my posts are this big? I'm having problems fixing it and if its okay with you, I'll keep it this way? Tell me in the comments below!

To end this post, I'm giving you a link to my song of the moment. I don't know why, but I can't embed videos here anymore! Anyone experiencing the same problem? Help me out guys!!

Payphone - Maroon 5

Oh, and before I forget, I celebrated my 16th birthday last Sunday, May 13! I celebrated it with the family because it was also Mother's Day. It was a casual day out, had lunch at Tender Bob's and shopped 'til we dropped at Green Hills. I celebrated a chill pizza party with my girlfriends last Monday. :)

Random Rambling #1

by Sofia Gatchalian on 5/07/2012

I'm writing this now without a title in mind and in the middle of the night. All I know is I'll write about random things until my mom shows up from the other room yelling at me about how late it is and I still haven't turned off the WiFi modem. I'm currently listening to Boyce Avenue's (together with Tyler Ward) cover of Fix You. I love this cover! They give such emotion to the song. (Not that I'm hating on Coldplay, I just like this version better)

Moving on... We went to Pagudpud (Ilocos) last long weekend and I haven't had the time (or the willingness and energy) to edit photos and post it here. I've been hanging out with my friends daily and now I am cashless. LITERALLY. My parents are making fun of me whenever I beg them for money. One of the downsides of summer is having no baon. I find it really uncomfortable asking for money everyday.

I'm an official Lasallian!!! Sorry for that, I am just so excited! And nervous as heck! I enrolled earlier this day and I already have my ID and handbook and all that good stuff. I look dreadful in my ID picture though... My mom and I went to enroll and when I saw the photo, I immediately called my dad and told him about it. He was laughing on the phone, which was quite irritating. Even after we got home, he saw it in person and was laughing at me. Ugh. I'll stop talking about it now. The enrollment process was quick! We came at about 2pm and the process took about 10 or 20 minutes. I can't believe I'm a college girl already! Our first day of classes is on May 24, 2012. I think I have the earliest first day ever, and I have no one with me! Except for one, but we are in different colleges in La Salle. Sad, but change really is part of life. I'm really nervous just thinking about the GTKEO (getting to know each other) part of the day. Good thing that we have the LPEP (Lasallian Personal Effectiveness Program) for that. Well heck, I'm nervous about that! I'm hoping my FC-ness (feeling close) will push through. I really hope I gain lots of friends in La Salle!

After DLSU, we went to Gateway to look around. I first went to Fully Booked where I bought a book titled "The Au Pairs: Sun Kissed". It looked like a good summer read. I wanted to by the last book in the trilogy Shiver; I'm already done with the first two (I have them both) and really wanted to buy the the last book. To my dismay, they only have hardbound copies of the book. I prefer buying the paperback ones because I like to cover my books in plastic cover and they're cheaper! Also, I bought a Jansport backpack  in Bratpack. It's a purple cosmic/galaxy print backpack. The salesguy told me it was a new release, they just got it yesterday. I was really torn between this one and a monochrome one, but I chose this. My mom reminded me of my monochrome backpacks. I wasn't really planning on buying a bag on the spot, but my mom insisted so that I have one thing ticked off of my list of things to worry about.

If you haven't watched The Avengers yet, you are seriously missing out! It's an awesome movie, and you need to watch it ASAP.

Also, since I can't think of a decent title for this post, I'm going to us Random Rambling. I know I'm going to do one of these again, so might as well add a number to it. My laptop is almost dead so I really need to stop writing and head to bed. (That rhymed!)

This post is full of rambling (thus the title) and I hope someone reads it. LOL. I know I get really bored when it comes to reading posts like this. I hope you're not like me!

Wordless Nut

by Sofia Gatchalian on 4/17/2012

I am probably the worst blogger ever! I haven't posted in weeks and here I am, nothing interesting to talk about. I have a few things I'd like to share, but other than that, this post is worthless. Thank you for wasting your time on reading it though!

First things first. I graduated high school! I am now an (almost!) official college girl. I am excited and nervous at the same time! Breaking from my usual routine is going to be rough.

By the way, I'm officially enrolling in De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila! I went there last week and paid the reservation fee and I'm going back on Friday to submit a couple of papers that I forgot when I went there. My dad taught me how to commute from Marikina to La Salle! Let me tell you now that that trip was tiring! I was so irritated by the noise and the atmosphere (hello smoke!) plus the heat! Seriously, this summer is one of the hottest I've ever experienced! I wish it would snow.. Even just for one day! Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, the trip. I hate it! I'm convincing my parents to let me get into a dorm but I keep on giving them reasons why I shouldn't.. For example, I always sleep late and wake up at 1 or 2 pm. But mom, I only sleep late because I'm on my summer break! I promise to sleep early when I have a class the following day! :) Also, I need a roommate!! Anyone here who's in need of one as well?

Moving on.. I'm playing around with my camera and the message "Error. Press shutter release button again." keeps on appearing and I don't know how to fix it! It's annoying as heck! It only shows up when I'm in the Manual mode. Anyone here knows how to fix it?

Also, I'm currently obsessing over this song by Gotye.

And this amazing cover by Walk Off The Earth!

I've also gone curly! I'll talk about that soon. I'm also stoked about this year's Coachella! Especially about the part where Tupac shows up. So much love and respect for him!!

Okay so I guess I'm not a wordless nut after all.. That's a good thing, right?

I haven't been inspired for days so I'll just post a couple of photos for you.

Almost there

by Sofia Gatchalian on 3/17/2012

Hey guys! Sorry for my short hiatus, I was contemplating whether or not I should post about my prom before any other post. I'm still waiting for a few photos to be uploaded by our photographer kuno (shout out to Sr. Raffy!). I also didn't get enough use out of my camera as I learned that the lens is broken so the photos I took were crappy, and I handed it to my class adviser so that I can dance through the night without worries.

So we're finally done! No more classes, no more papers, no more home works. The only thing we have left is our graduation practices and we're out of high school! It feels so weird to actually be leaving my Alma mater. On a side note, I didn't get the semestral award I was hoping for. The only subject that brought me to this misery was Social Studies!! And the thing I hate about it is that a measly point has brought me to this. Oh well, I guess I should've done better.

I've also been craving for this neon pair from Aldo I saw at the store two weeks ago. I forgot about it but seeing it again on Camille's blog got me going crazy all over again! This is definitely not one of those shoes I'll where all the time so I really need to think before buying it.

Inspiration: Daily Look

by Sofia Gatchalian on 3/02/2012

Finally, weekend! We had our CEM (Center for Educational Measurement) exams earlier. This week was probably my worst week of February, I haven't had enough sleep for days! I'm sure you're tired of hearing my complaints so I'm going to make it up by showing a couple of photos I came across last night.

I'm almost done with the requirements! I only have one portfolio left to do. Next week is going to be hell as well, Monday to Wednesday we'll have our exams. My group members and I also have an oral defense on Monday, and I have to do the slides for that. Also, Thursday we have our final NAT (National Achievement Test) review on Thursday and NAT on Friday.

The good thing is, after all that, we are done! We have our JS (Junior-Senior) Prom on March 10 and graduation practice for the following days. I'm really excited about that, but I really need to focus now on studying for the exams. I'll be heartbroken if I get kicked out of the honor's list!

I was watching a few Youtube videos yesterday (I should've been finishing up my projects, see how easily I get distracted?) and came across a video of which I forgot the title. The girl was talking about this site called the Daily Look . The site showcases the clothes they sell by means of having a "daily look". Each day, they post an outfit and most (if not all) of the clothes they show are for sale.

Here are a few inspiration photos that I will probably go back to once a start college (because they don't wear uniforms in the school I'm planning on enrolling to)

You can sense in the photos that I really like having a pop of color on my outfit. I love prints as well! These are not the usual 'artsy' photos I tend to gravitate to but I find these wearable for everyday! Anyway, I need to go now. We're going to celebrate my dad's birthday tonight.

Have a great weekend! :)

Stress Reliever

by Sofia Gatchalian on 2/24/2012

Finally! A Saturday without CAT. I've been attending our CAT class for every Saturday of January and February. I'm not really the sporty type of person, but I do really get into things when I have competition.

I've been really stressed these past few days. So many requirements and essays to finish up! I have at least 5 essays to write and a research paper (baby thesis, as we like to call it) to submit. Also, a lot of study notes to take down! Ahh! This is messing me up, big time! The worst part is, I get distracted so easily! One second, I'm writing an essay and the next, I find myself reading through blogs or watching Youtube videos.

A week ago, my mom decided to drop by Nike to buy two pairs of shoes for her games. She's a tennis and badminton player, as well as a volleyball player! I wish I could be as active in sports as my mom. Anyway, I spotted this pair that I really liked and asked her if she could buy me the pair. My dad disagreed as he found the pair to be a bit "hip hop" but gladly he found a pair better than the first one I saw! He spotted this pair, and thank God he did! I love the low cut and the neon pink.

Also, I was really devastated when I found out that Whitney Houston had passed. I've been a fan since I was a child, singing to her hit song I Will Always Love You. Rest in peace, we know you are know singing with the heaven's choir.

Some live videos I've been checking out for days now:

A lovely cover by a group I've been addicted listening to:
